UTRIP stands for the "University of Tokyo Research Internship Program." This program was launched by the Graduate School of Science (GSS) of the University of Tokyo (one of the world's leading research-education universities) as part of its campaign begun in June 2010 for promoting the internationalization of the GSS by inviting talented young students from abroad. UTRIP is an intensive summer research program targeted at undergraduates who have a keen interest in pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. degree in the future. During the program, the participants receive intensive instruction and guidance on conducting research from renowned faculty members belonging to the GSS's five departments of physics, astronomy, chemistry, earth & planetary science, and biological sciences.
Due to continued activity restrictions set in place for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19, UTRIP, as well as other in-person activities, was cancelled in 2020.?Nevertheless, as one of the educational endeavors in anticipation of the ‘Post-Corona’ age, the Graduate School of Science (GSS) of the University of Tokyo has launched, in 2021, the virtual research internship program, UTRIP Online, as a pilot program.
We aim to turn the current situation into a positive factor for the highly motivated students from all over the world, allow them a hands-on experience of internships at the University of Tokyo, and give them the opportunity to participate in remote lectures and research activities without being bound by geographical constraints
During the four weeks of UTRIP program, student(s) will do research remotely in Ohkoshi Laboratory following the schedule below.
